THE TREATMENT

Acupuncture treats disease by puncturing certain points of the body with different type of the fine needles. An acupuncturist may manipulate the needles with a stimulating or reducing method, for the purpose to balance the qi of an organ as well as the whole body, so that the curative effects can be achieved and or an illness can be prevented.
A tiny pricking is what all you could feel during the needle insertion. And a twinkling sensation in the course of the treatment is normal, it means the qi in your body is present at that moment (or say, it be felt by you consciously ). Often after a treatment you'll feel a bit tiredness in the body but a relaxation in the mind, you don't need do anything, just relax for a while, then you'll feel ok again. The World Health Organization (WHO) of the UN describes more than fifty diseases which can be helped with a TCM treatment.
